We Are Nice’n Easy are seminal figures in the Miami art community, embodying the city’s recognizable motifs of playful, lighthearted fun, they replicate ready-made objects in elevated materials and inject further meaning and analysis into the symbolism these items hold. Debuting new work in various mediums, they delve deeper into their iconic subtropical vernacular employing themes such as reflection pools, playful water toys, and of course smiley faces :).
Upon initial inspection, the viewer is absorbed, as the title denotes, into a Happy Place. The exhibition notably features a salon style installation of 32 individual pieces. The Pool Personas are shapes derived from different pool designs popular during the ‘70’s & ‘80’s. The medium is a reflective acrylic, which allows the viewer to see one’s self while also facing a playful smiley cut out. This work becomes a powerful meditation on Lacanian psychology and exploring the boundaries of one's persona or self.
The exhibition aims to engage and excite audiences to interact with the work as well as one's own inner self. Indulging in South Florida iconography and the tropes of leisure, We Are Nice’n Easy presents an environment where there is no pretension around how deep one chooses to dive. The exhibition aims to engage and excite audiences to interact with the work as well as one's own inner self.
