Brian butler / bio
Brian Butler is a living artist. He has murals and regular exhibitions in New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Atlanta and Miami. He’s been commissioned by the Miami Heat, Inter Miami CF, Club Space, and iii Points. He is part of the Aventura Mall’s permanent collection. They knew him by name at Churchills.
Butler’s relocation to Miami was guided by spectacle and novelty. His arrival was timed perfectly to the smash-hit single “I’m in Miami Bitch”. A phrase that adorned every South Beach gift shop, and ear-wormed its way into the national psyche.

This is a first look at my Devil’s Triangles series. It’s meant to embrace Miami’s position within the Bermuda Triangle. My goal was to employ the souvenir pennant as a nod to Miami’s tourism industry, by using flags tasked with sharing regional lure beyond the mysterious boundaries of the Triangle. The graphics celebrate Miami’s lost landmarks and cultural touch points. A tribute to the television show Miami Ink, alongside a flyer for a notorious Stooges concert count among the flags flown high enough to capture my imagination from 1400 miles away. As a resident, I grew fond of the aspects of Miami that elude grand promotion. Herein reside flags that champion a place to find a good sandwich, or catch hepatitis in the bathroom.
