Claudio Marcotulli was born in Caracas, Venezuela. He is a Miami-based artist using sculpture, installation and film to create works that investigate his interest in nature, physics and flight by illuminating existential questions around these subjects. His three-dimensional works and films often reference the origins of the universe, memory and other cosmic questions. Marcotulli also explores basic principles of aerodynamics that reveal the science and poetry behind the mechanics of flight.
Recent commissions include No Vacancy by Miami Beach Arts and Culture, Aspen Institute and solo shows at Laundromat Art Space and Edge Zones Gallery. His work has also been presented by the Coral Springs Museum of Art, Diaspora Vibe Arts Collective, Feria Clandestina, Miami International Airport MIAmi Gallery, AIRIE, among others. His films have been part of selections by Miami International Film Festival, ScreenDance Miami and over twenty international film festivals. He has also received awards and funding support from the Knight Foundation, South Florida PBS and the Awesome Foundation.
Marcotulli has been in residency with Correlacion Contemporanea, Peru, Casa GIAP, Mexico and MDC Live Arts Miami Lab Residency. Currently, he is a resident artist at Laundromat Art Space.
