Diana Paz is a multimedia artist known for her paintings, murals, installations, and sculptures. These totemic yet modernist pieces entitled Santos are a pivotal element to her altar installation which is a self proclaimed love letter to her only remaining family member in Venezuela. For Paz, the altar symbolizes an important place for prayers and meditation as well as offerings and intentions.
Her shapes and use of color are central to her overall visual vocabulary and take on a playful and layered physicality. They are not meant so much as religious references but an homage to personal spiritually as a way of grappling with far distances and maintaining a closeness to her roots.
